Things In Our Playroom I Hate: Part Three & Four

Things I Hate: Part Three

Snowglobe Nun
.
.
It's a nun. In a snowglobe. With an inch of water missing.
.

Things I Hate: Part Four

Fun Fur Princess Dress
.

In the quest for ultimate cheapness, I only buy dress-up clothes for GirlChild two weeks after Halloween. Then, K-Mart has all their costumes at 90% off and we go crazy. GirlChild fell in love with the princess dress above and wouldn't be swayed by my rational talk of "That is absolutely hideous - are you sure you want that?"
.
That would be fun fur you see paneling the sides.
.
When is it acceptable to sport a fun fur princess dress?
.
1. you're acting out a scene from Conan the Barbarian
2. your name is Brunhild and you are a valkyrie
3. fun fur is never acceptable on a princess dress
.

*Note to my internets - just got back from PA. I'll be making my blog rounds to catch up with everyone today and tomorrow. Thanks for leaving me comments while I was out!

LOL! Are you like me? I do my blogging like school work...when something strikes me I'll sit down and write several posts and schedule them. So I could be dead and blogger would still be posting.

You'll know I'm not dead if I'm still leaving comments. Haven't figured out a way to get blogger to do that automatically for me. Yet.

Oh, and I think it's perfectly acceptable for a princess dress to have fur if you are a viking.

I love that dress! One of my favorite pictures of GirlChild is her in that dress with the pink sunglasses, furry ears & the pink fairy wings. She rocks!!

Are ya kidding? Why, I wear fun-fur princess dresses every day to work and...

No, I don't have many face-to-face client meetings, why do you ask? :)

The dress would be really bad if it were, say, a leopard-print fun fur princess dress. As it stands, it's just... puzzling.

PA? That's my neck of the woods! That is an awful dress. I find humor in the snow globe though.

Why would anyone put a nun in a snowglobe? Too funny!

Unknown said...

Do you know why Nuns always travel in pairs?

The first Nun makes sure the second Nun doesn't get none.

It's actually funnier when you HEAR it.

I'm digging the Nun snowglobe!

I bought my youngest a tiger costume a few years back when he was a toddler. That was the best 20 dollars I ever spent. That boy wears it at least once a week and for years now. He even likes to make embarrassing public appearances in the crazy suit:0

Where would you find a snow globe nun? Was it part of a Religious Figures in Winter Collector series from McDonalds? Was there a mullah in a snow globe? Or just icons in different weather, perhaps a rabbi in spring, napping in the fresh grass or a bishop jumping into a pile of raked leaves.

Where does one even get a nun snowglobe? Not that I actually want one, mind you, but is there a nun gift shop somewhere?!

Did you NOT see my post of the shopping trip to Wal-Mart? What was I wearing? Yes, I wore fun fur. And for those mommies needing ideas to get their kids out of Wal-Mart or any other hellish store thereof, wear fun fur……..and carry a sword.

p.s. that nun snowglobe R*O*C*K*S

Can I have the Snow Globe Nun? I mean, for reals? Because I think it would be the perfect complement to my Popener (Beer opener shaped like the pope - opener part in the tall hat) that I acquired in front of the Vatican City in college.

I'll even prepay the shipping.

Being a fan of Uggs, I love fur!

There was a time in my 20's when I would have totally rocked that dress with my Doc Marten's. In public and without shame!

Can I pretend girlchild is my neice?

I almost spit on my screen when I saw the snowglobe nun. As a catholic, I appreciate that :)

You should have some sort of contest and give the stuff away.

I still have nun-mares. Those bitches and their frocking rulers.

Cant wait till that globe of hers is empty!!

I think I need that fun fur dress! And what's with the missing water in a snow globe? We have one with a camel that says "Jerusalem", also inch-of-waterless.

I heart the nun snoglobe. Classic. How did that get in your house? Does it play music, like, "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria"...

Oh princess dresses - I've got about 15 especially with the Disney princesses running their respective revival tours and having 3 and 4 year old daughters... I hear you!

My husband still complains (31 years later) about me getting rid of some of the "things I hate" that he had as a single guy.

Our youngest was given (by my sister, may she get gum in her hair) a purple acrylic sister with appliqued cutsie kitten-cats on it with plastic goggle eyes and a plaid bow. It was genuinely gag-worthy, but she loved it so much she wore it for THREE years! Now I can't throw the damn thing away. Sigh.

Bijoux said...

It drives me nuts when the water starts evaporating in my snow globes (I only have Xmas ones). Do I throw them away? It's pretty bad when there's only like a half inch left of water!

What a great idea! (Though all I could think of to say about that fun fur dress is that at least you have a GIRL wearing it.... you should see some of the stuff my SON wore... OUT IN PUBLIC.)

can i get a nun snowglobe? it will so go with my pope john paul II bottle opener.

I HEART the nun snow globe. I have no doubt you would get a TON of COLD HARD CASH for that on Ebay!

Maybe they were trying to save the nun from drowning?
