Alice's Awards Ceremony

Mrs. 4444 over at Half-Past Kissin' Time was so sweet as to award me this little lovely:

Thank you! *sniff* Please go visit her and her very feminine purse. ; )
.
The rules of this award are whatever you want them to be. It would be nice if you linked back to the originator of the award and to give it for the reason he created it:
.
This award is "dedicated to many who nourish and enrich the spirit and creativity. They see dedication, creativity, camaraderie, joy and above all, ART - much art. I wish that this prize is entertaining to all bloggers who share this space and enrich it a little more each day." ~ Arte Y Pico
.
And so I'd like to pass this on to Mary at Resident Alien who writes the most wonderful posts of her life around the globe. As a lifelong globe trotter I get a real kick out of her anecdotes! They hit a little close to home sometimes.
.
I'd also like to give one to Elasticwaistbandlady at The Smiling Infidel who manages to entertain me with the most tangential mind I've ever witnessed! She works in the blogosphere like a Picasso. I think that's my best analogy. Love you girl!
.
To Leigh Ann at That Girl from Shallotte who is also a fantastic writer and makes me feel a little less homesick by writing with a southern twang. And how can you NOT love the pink hair? GirlChild is SOLD.
.
And to Jenn from Of Cabbages and Kings who was probably one of my very first readers and is most likely a kindred spirit even though I've never met her. She's wacky, wonderful and tells a great tale!
.
I don't fancy myself much of a writer, but do appreciate people who are great at putting pen to paper (or in this case, typing it out.) Thanks for all the written enjoyment you've given me.
.
Cheers!!

Well, I wanted to surprise you at the awards ceremony during the video montage, but here's the script:

(close up shot of Leigh Ann reaching into the refrigerator and retrieving a can of lite domestic beer)

LA: Oh, hi! Didn't see you standing there. What can I say about Alice that you didn't already know? When I first read her 80s hair post, I knew we would get along just fine. She gave me the confidence to post my own prom picture, as she's the bravest person I know (she lives with FROGS!). Last, but not least, she has a Vanilla Ice action figure and dresses it up as Run-DMC. What's not to love?

So Alice, on your big night, the honor and the pleasure are all mine. (Raises domestic beer can.)

(End scene and long comment)

I hope you wore something fancy to get your award? Great analogy of Smiling Infidel! You both rock in my book:)

The Smiling Infidel is an excellent choice. She is near and dear to my heart for many reasons that she knows and it has allot to do with her Papi. ;o)

And now back in the top 30!!!!!

Quick tip: real writers don't use exclamations marks.

Congrats on the award! And thanks for the new blogs to add to my ever growing list of reads. I already heard about the need to at least respond with a quick coment from HMHH so I'm trying to get better.

Again, CONGRATS! Well deserved!

Aw gee, Alice.. I'm all touched (sniff) (that's touched, not teched, though I'm sure that applies as well...)

Thank you. I will do my best to uphold the values of the award committee and not have to be stripped of the title because of posing in Playboy or somethin'.

I love stopping by here. It's like invading your kitchen and making you tell me stories. Only with less proximity to tent worms. :)

Someday I'm going to learn to write. In the meantime I'll check these out. I'm already reading Smiling Infidel. Congrats on the award.

I've been working on a post dedicated to ---->YOU<---- for two days and I keep getting interrupted with stupid stuff like going to work...... and feeding my kids. It's just ridiculous!

I'm so grateful to be referred to as tangential. I used to be called 'NUGENTial' because of my love for Cat Scratch Fever. I must be maturing!

I can't wait for the after party!!! I'm going to wear my new enviro-friendly gown crafted entirely from used condoms.

Leigh Ann - It's not my big night at all. This is YOUR night! Dress appropriately. Maybe bring the prom dress and hair out of retirement. ; )

Di - Honey, my entire wardrobe consists of t-shirts and shorts. If I do get a real job in the fall, I have NO idea what I'm gonna wear.

Amy and Queen Goob - Thanks!

Meg - I'll never be a real writer. I love exclamation marks too much. That's OK though, I've already been published in a boring statistical journal that no one will ever read. I'm guessing there weren't any exclamation marks in that so I guess it's possible.

Jenn - Is there something I don't know about you?! Come on over for coffee anytime you don't mind sitting at the gluey/glittery kitchen table and tell my all about your Playboy days.

VE - Thanks! It's hard when I'm more used to writing sentences that start of like "The SUP estimates are ratio adjusted to the BPS..."

Elastic! - Thank YOU!! Just got your package and am cleverly crafting a new post. Right after I get the idea of your condom gown out of my head, that is. You rock!

Lou & Stacey - Thank you!

Congratulations! And it looks like you've chosen a very worthy bunch with whom to share the award.

Arte! Pico! Hurrah!

Oh wow! An award! I have nothing prepared! This was so unexpected! Wow, well, I guess I should first thank the small people, starting with my 8th grade typing teacher. Without her I... Oh wait.. I didn't win?

Oh well,
Always a blogsman, never a blog.

Sean C said...

you're an excellent writer are you kidding?

congrats on your award! I never win anything ;]

You ARE a good writer for sure! Your blog ALWAYS makes me smile. And your comments on mine have made me laugh so hard I've come close to having adult "accidents".

Yay -- thank you! Now I know why people were congratulating me for getting an award!

Oh how I wish I'd found this last night when I was sitting there all glum and bummed out over yet another rejection. Even rejections lose some of their sting when I get an award from such a talented writer.

How can you not call yourself a writer? Everything you write screams 'writer'! I've weaned myself off exclamation marks (just deleted two in this comment so far, in fact) and have even resisted the urge to play fast and free with dashes and commas, but I'm still getting rejections. And I call myself a writer. I figure somebody has to.

JD - Thanks hon!

Damon - Aww...maybe I'll make up my own award to throw around the blogosphere and you'll be the first recipient!

Sean - Thanks and I'll give you one too when I give Damon his. ; )

Manager Mom - Thank you. I honestly don't laugh at my own stuff. It's hard to know what other people find funny. The only thing that ever made me pee (because I had a 3rd grade sense of humor) is when Babycakes said that some girl in his highschool yearbook had 'goblin teeth.' Go figure!

Mary - You are a great writer! There are some blogs, where I inwardly groan when I see a lot of writing and then there are those that I look forward to reading. Just remember me when you're rich and famous and that my backyard is just SCREAMING for a pool!

Angie said...

Congrats.... I letting hope get me to the next award to be presented...

Well, their comments alone could draw me to their blogs, but your post is also intriguing; off to check them out!
